For fans of ABC’s A Million Little Things or David Giuntoli (Grimm), the news that ABC has ordered 4 more episodes of the series to bring its first season to 17 (considered a full season order these days) is an early holiday present. If you haven’t seen the show, it focuses on the intertwined lives of a group of friends in the aftermath of the unexpected suicide of the person who brought the group together in the first place. Giuntoli plays a washed up recovering alcoholic guitarist trying to put his life back together after the death of his friend and the breakup of his unhappy marriage. The show, as the premise may imply, is in the same vein as This is Us, meaning it’s an emotional drama with no shortage of crying, but appealing relationships strengthened by sports comradery (Steelers football gets traded for Bruins hockey).
